Fort Lauderdale, Florida, August 20, 2019, Hotwire Communications broke the fastest speed record reported by Netflix in the July 2019 Internet Service Provider (ISP) Speed Index with an average speed of 5.08 Megabits per Second (Mbps). No company in the history of the Netflix Speed Index has ever reported an average speed score above 5 Mbps, making the ranking earned by Hotwire Communications a milestone achievement.

Since introducing Hotwire Communications into their rankings in October of 2017, the company has held the #1 Fastest position every month for the past 22 months consecutively. Each month Netflix reports the fastest ISP’s providing service to their customers and each month the Florida based fiber optics telecom holds onto the top position.

The ranking comes as little surprise to the telecommunications company, who in September of 2018 became Netflix’s Fastest ISP in the World, outranking all other Internet Service Providers that the streaming service monitors.

According to Netflix, the ISP Speed Index is determined by calculating the average primetime bitrate for Netflix content streamed to Netflix members during a particular month. Measurements are taken during ‘Prime Time’ and consist of the speeds via all available end-user devices.

“Fiber optics is inevitably what led us to this ranking,” said Emanuele Jones, Vice President of Engineering. “The speeds possible through a secure, consistent fiber optic network give our customers more reliable service than any other Internet Service Provider. Netflix’s ranking is just a testament to the future-proof technology.”
