Fort Lauderdale, Florida, October 25, 2019, The devastating impact of Hurricane Dorian left thousands in the Bahamas without power or the means to contact family and emergency services. Driven by a desire to help those still suffering the effects of the storm, Hotwire Communications is bringing its partners together to help reconnect the islands during the ongoing restoration process.

Through a public GoFundMe page which employees were encouraged to donate to, a donation match made by Hotwire’s executive leadership, and direct vendor contributions, Hotwire Communications was able to raise in excess of $10,000 over the course of only three weeks, more than doubling the original goal.

These funds will go towards purchasing and delivering rechargeable solar-powered battery banks directly to the Bahamas, allowing those still without access to electricity on Freeport, Nassau, and the Abaco Islands the ability to power cellphones, laptops, radios, and other small electronic devices that are critically needed during this time.

“We know how important it is to stay connected after a storm, especially to the ones we love overseas,” said Marty Mohr, Hotwire Communications’ EVP of Construction. “After the call went out, we were touched and invigorated by the support and generosity of our partners, who didn’t hesitate to answer.

“Together, we decided that these power banks could make an immediate and lasting impact on the lives of those affected by the storm, and we’re honored that we’re able to contribute to the Bahamas’ path towards recovery and restoration.”
