Hotwire Communications, the South Florida-based telecommunications company and Internet Service Provider (ISP), has once again been named one of the Best Gaming ISPs for 2022 in both the “Southeast USA” and “USA – All ISPs” categories by PCMag.

With an overall score of 10.5, Hotwire Communications received the second-best evaluation in the Southeast USA, and the third-best evaluation in the USA overall. However, the difference in network footprint between Hotwire Communications and the other companies leaves Hotwire as the number one ISP for online gaming in the markets its serves, reconfirming the award-winning company’s status as one of the country’s premier providers of high speed, ultra-reliable fiber optic Internet solutions.

The digital, computer-focused publication uses a combined metric called the “PCMag Gaming Quality Index” in order to measure the overall connection quality of an ISP’s services evaluated through thousands of speed tests submitted by PCMag’s readers, with the total score reflecting the connection’s latency and jitter.

While latency is the amount of time measured in milliseconds it takes for a signal to reach its destination from the source, jitter is a measure of the consistency of the latency. Low latency and low jitter equate to a stronger, more reliable connection, which is essential to online gaming where poor connectivity can drastically impact the user experience, and therefore a lower score on the PCMag Gaming Quality Index indicates a higher evaluation.

Hotwire Communications is no stranger to PCMag’s annual ranking of the “Best Gaming ISPs,” as the publication has previously recognized Hotwire as one of the fastest ISPs, with the lowest latency and jitter, in its 2021, 2020, 2019, 2017, and 2015 lists, with Hotwire leading the pack with the best overall score nationwide in both 2020 and 2019. PCMag has additionally named Hotwire Communications as one of the fest ISPs overall in their 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, and 2017 rankings.

“We’re incredibly honored to once again be ranked by PCMag as one of their Best Gaming ISPs,” said Ron Raugh, Hotwire Communications’ VP of Engineering. “The entire Hotwire Communications team is dedicated to providing all of our customers with the highest level of service quality possible, and we’re thrilled to know that our commitment to innovation and pushing the limits of what can be accomplished with our Fiber-to-the-Home technology means that customers who enjoy online gaming are receiving a best-in-class experience.”
