Hotwire Communications Successfully Tests 25G and 50G PON Technology with Nokia, Setting a New Standard in High-Speed Connectivity
Palm Beach Gardens, Florida – December 3, 2024 – Hotwire Communications, a leading provider of fiber-optic telecommunications solutions, successfully completed testing of 25G and 50Gbps broadband speeds over its network using Nokia’s Lightspan MF fiber access platform. The test, conducted between Frenchman’s Creek in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and the company’s Hollywood Circle headend, marks a significant step forward in high-speed connectivity.
Today, Hotwire is one of only four providers in the U.S. to trial 50G speeds, highlighting its commitment to delivering revolutionary fiber technology and cutting-edge connectivity solutions through the company’s Fision® suite of products. Leveraging Nokia’s Lightspan solution to simultaneously run 10-, 25-, and 50-Gig speeds over Hotwire’s existing fiber network demonstrates a substantial increase in speed and bandwidth capabilities.
Geert Heyninck, Vice President of Broadband Network at Nokia, said: “Operators want technology that can solve for their specific needs and business case. Our platform gives operators flexibility, providing access to a full range of PON technologies and services that can be delivered over their existing fiber network. With our fiber solutions hotwire will be able to future-proof their network and flexibly address evolving network demands. We are excited to help Hotwire prepare their network for future and provide the tools, resources and expertise they need to deliver better, faster broadband access to the communities they serve.”
“I am incredibly proud of what we accomplished with our partners at Nokia,” said Pragash Pillai, Hotwire Communications’ Chief Technology Officer. “Delivering 50-Gig speeds over Hotwire’s advanced all-fiber network is a testament to our shared commitment to delivering future-proof connectivity that shapes the digital landscape.”
Supported with Nokia’s Lightspan solution, Hotwire is poised to handle the growing demands for bandwidth-heavy applications such as ultra-HD streaming and next-gen business applications.
